This is an adjustable powder measure about 3 ½ inches long overall, made of brass, fitted with a small steel heart-shaped or winged thumbscrew at the bottom to adjust the interior rod fitted with a matching winged finial. The scew is functional and the rod is marked in Arabic numerals to indicate the amount of powder it will hold, allowing for both precise differing amounts of powder at the choice of the shooter, making it a nice improvement on the fixed capacity “finger chargers” often employed with powder horns or simple flasks.
This would display well in a collection of powder flasks and horns, or with nice flintlock or percussion hunting or target rifle. [sr][ph:m]
