Here is a very rare item. This paper wrapper was used to package ten japanned tins of pistol-sized percussion caps. This is so very rare because these wrappers were usually torn open and just thrown away. Manufactured and packaged by Eley Brothers of London.
An original round, green label is pasted to one end of the course brown wrapping paper. Label is complete but has some spots where the print is rubbed away. The label reads, “2000 / Metal-Lined / Caps / Made Expressly For / Colt’s Pt. / Belt and Pocket / Pistols / Eley Bros. / Manufacturers London.”
Wrapping paper exhibits tears at both ends; the end with the printed label remains mostly sealed. Two cardboard cores have been inserted to retain the original shape of the package. Measures approximately 5.5” long x 3” x 1.5”.
This is a very hard to find accessory for any Colt revolver and especially for a cased set. [jet] [ph:L]
