Iron scissor-type mold to cast a lead round ball for muskets. Single cavity mold with spout on top and a sprue cutter in handle. Cavity measures approximately 0.695”. The number “13” is stamped in handle which means “13 balls to the pound” which equates to approximately .71 caliber. This diameter bullet would be used in English smoothbore muskets like the P-51. Some light surface rust.
These larger caliber molds are much less common than the small-bore molds.
From the collection of author/publisher Dean Thomas. [jet][ph:L]
