This pattern of flask is associated with cased Remington Army and Navy revolvers. The embossed motifs feature a pair of standing pheasants at top, who seem to have met their fate in bottom panel, lying on the ground next to a reclining hunting dog. The two scenes are contained within very Victorian, kind of gothic revival, studded-band borders in roughly heart shaped mirrored frames pointing up and down. The spout is sloped, an innovation making it easier to fill a revolver cylinder without banging the flask against the upper portion of the pistol while loading. The thumbpiece and spring are in place, the latter showing some nice blue. The flask shows an even, medium brass tone overall with just some minor age stains. There are only some light impressions on the face of the flask, with some very narrow, small dings or scrapes overlapping the two sides along the bottom edge and two small pressure dents further up on one side that have separated the seam slightly. This is an attractive flask, unmarked, but thought by some to have been made by the American Flask and Cap Company in Waterbury, CT.  [sr][ph:L]
