Just about every US rifle or carbine cartridge box of the period has a small separate implement pouch for the gun tools, oily rags, etc., necessary for the cleaning and maintenance of the soldier’s weapon. This tool was used for removing pins and depressing band springs. Two differently sized punches are mounted on the arms. Original deep blue remains. Unmarked.
