This is a Riker “butterfly case” with a cut mat containing a display of fifteen excavated Civil War bullets. The pieces are identified on the front with a more detailed description pasted to the back of the case.
Included is an English Enfield bullet (“L” in base) by E. & A. Ludlow in England, .58 cal. “minie” bullet w/ star in base, .58 cal. Confederate Gardner bullet, .69 cal. Round Ball for Smoothbore Muskets, .58 cal. fired and well smashed bullet. Also, there are Starr carbine and Sharps carbine bullets. In the center is a fine .44 cal. Henry rifle rimfire cartridge. There is a Confederate “Georgia” teat bullet and a Williams’ patent type II “cleaner” bullet. For revolvers there is a .36 cal. Colt bullet for “Navy” revolvers and a .44 cal. bullet for “Army” revolvers by Bartholow. Lastly, there is a .58 cal. French bullet with triangle cavity, .56 cal. for Colt Revolving Rifle, and .54 cal. Merrill carbine bullet.
