Here is a small sized powder flask made for a percussion pistol. This excellent condition flask from the 1850s exhibits the conventional tear-shaped copper body. The body is decorated with raised oval panels, leaves, and a stacked column of dots down the center. Device measures approximately 4.5” long and has a 2” wide swell. This flask is equipped with adjustable spout and spring-loaded thumb stopper. Unmarked.
Seams are strong and show no evidence of splitting or repairs. There were never any sling swivels on the sides. The spring charging mechanism still operates well.
An even bronze patina covers the entire flask body and presents a pleasing and handsome appearance. A nice example of mid-century powder flask. [jet] [ph:L]
