This is a copper and brass powder flask in nice condition. Measures approximately 9” tall x 4” at widest point.
Both sides are adorned with a spread-winged eagle above a circle of stars that contain two hands shaking at the center of a sunburst. At bottom is a US shield at the center of panoply of flags, guns, and swords.
The top of the flask has the brass cap and the inside half of the spout; the outer adjustable “funnel” half is missing. The top of the cap is marked “BATTY / 1853.” Thumb tab is present while the spring is missing. Both sling loops are present on the sides.
The copper body of the flask has a few small dents and one side exhibits a slight “push”. An attached string tag states that this came from the Thomas “Dewey” Derr estate in Danville, PA.
The flask has a very pleasing overall patina. [jet][ph:L]
