Brass scissor-type mold to cast a lead Enfield pattern bullet.  Single cavity mold with front-side spout. The number “24” is stamped on the right side of the mold block. This represents .58 caliber, or “24 bullets to the pound”.

This mold is also marked “JG” on the handle for the London maker, “John Greenfield”. Floating iron base plug is screwed to one side. All brass has a nice, mellow patina; sides of mold block show typical dings from knocking bullets out of mold. These “side-cast” molds are fairly scarce.  [jet][ph:L]
