This horn measures about 7-1/2” overall and is in as-found, uncleaned condition, showing surface dirt and grime from the past 200 years or so, along with handling marks and scratches. The horn shows a mix of cream and light brown at the base, shifting quickly to deeper browns, some with a greenish tint, toward the spout. Both spout and convex base plug are in place, the latter showing narrow incised lines around the bottom edge of the plug and midway up the rounded step under the center dimple, which has a narrow, raised ring around it. The base plug is largely light brown with some darker stains, and shows nicks and small chips. The spout is good. The body shows a push on one side that has cracked the outer layers of the horn, and there is a narrow strip of that outer layer also peeled away from just above the base plug and running up the curve of the horn for a short distance. Please see our photos. [sr][ph:m]
