A very good condition flat horn priming flask, likely for a pistol. This is in excellent condition and is made with flat, dark top and bottom and mellow. cream color body showing some thin brown at base. The flask and spout with stopper in place measure 6-inches overall; without the stopper they measure 5-inches; the stopper itself, with pin, is 2-3/4-inches. The body is oval in cross-section and has a very pleasing curve to it when set upright on its flat bottom. The spout is wood, turned in a vase shape, and the wood stopper, with slight reddish tone, has a long shaft with top carved in the silhouette of a vase or flower-bud, with a small hole, giving very much the impression of a key. When drawn it reveals a long iron wire with pin point that would serve as a vent pick that, along with the size, suggests a priming horn for the finer powder used to insure ignition in a flintlock.

This is in excellent condition, with no holes or cracks and would display incredibly well next to a higher-end flintlock pistol.  [sr] [ph:L]
