This is a Remington 1861 Army Revolver, otherwise called Old Model Army, which was widely used during the American Civil War. This six shot percussion pistol is .44 caliber. The 8” octagonal barrel is marked on top flat “Patented Dec 17, 1861/Manufactured by Remington Ilion, NY” It was made c.1862 with the serial #15379. Walnut grips with single inspector’s cartouche in left side. Mechanically perfect. All metal is smooth with light gun metal gray patina.  [ss]
