This is a percussion, six-shot, double-action bar hammer pocket pistol, also known as a “pepperbox” pistol.

Produced by the Allen & Thurber firm of Worcester, Massachusetts between 1845 and 1854. Pistol is a .32 caliber weapon with a 3.5” long, fluted barrel. Total revolver length is approximately 7.75” long overall. Two-piece grips are walnut, varnished and remain in very good condition.

All gun metal exhibits a dark pewter tone with light wear. Revolver features factory engraving in a floral motif executed on both sides of the frame and on nipple shield. Strong mechanics. Nipples intact, not chipped or broken. One of the barrel facets shows partial stamping of “ALLEN THURBER & CO.  WORCESTER.” The left side of the hammer is clearly stamped “ALLEN’S PATENT / 1845”.
