This 1849 Colt pocket model revolver with all matching serial numbers is in very good condition.

The revolver has serial number 263503 matching on all parts but the unmarked loading lever, which gives it a mid-1864 date of manufacture.

The five-inch octagonal barrel, marked with: “ADDRESS COL. SAML. COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA”. Bore is clear with light oxidation amid good rifling. Loading lever assembly is complete, yet unnumbered. The six-shot cylinder shows a nearly complete stagecoach cylinder scene. The Colt patent information and serial number is strong. The original nipples are good and safety pins are mashed. Frame is stamped "COLT’S / PATENT" on left side. Brass trigger guard is stamped “.31 CAL” on left side. Mechanically crisp and strong. All gun metal is good condition with much original blue remaining on the barrel. The are some small dings around the wedge aperture as is to be expected.

The one-piece walnut grips are very good with great color and with their varnish. The grip strap and trigger guard show practically none of their thin silver wash.

A fine revolver that was popular with travelers, westerners, and Civil War officers. [jet][ph:L]
