The "DICTATOR" was made by Hopkins and Allen from the late 1860's through the early 1870's. Only 1000 were made in percussion as this one is. The serial number on this weapon is 3640. This weapon is a .36 caliber round barrel revolver with a 5-shot cylinder and a 4" barrel. Nicely stamped on top of the barrel is "DICTATOR."
The wood grips are of walnut and display some light wear. The cylinder and barrel surfaces have darkened with age as has the loading lever. The cylinder still retains much of its decoration. The frame is a little lighter and may have been very lightly cleaned. There has been a repair done to the hammer. Mechanics good. [ad/ld][ph:L]
