THIRD TYPE P.S. JUSTICE MUSKET

$2,550.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 142-73

The .69 caliber barrel was originally finished brown but is now showing some small scattered light spots where the finish has rubbed off. Barrel surface is free of pitting. The front blade sight is present with the bayonet lug forward of the sight just above the muzzle. The rear sight with its two flip-up leaves is also present. The short distance leaf is chipped. Barrel is faintly marked on top behind rear sight with “P.S. JUSTICE / PHILAD.” in two lines. Right at the base of the rear sight the barrel is stamped with a number “6” which matches the number stamped on the side of the hammer. Bore is bright with good rifling but there is light scattered dirt along its length.

Lock plate has a patina matching the barrel. Lock has a rounded front and a rounded point at rear. The edge is beveled forward of the hammer and flush behind it. Lock is marked forward of the hammer with a worn “P.S. JUSTICE / PHILAD.” in two lines. Action is strong and works well. Nipple is original.

Walnut stock is dark and looks to be untouched and shows the usual light wear from age, use and storage. Right side of the butt has brass patch box that opens and closes properly. Stock has no markings. Stock also looks to be free of cracks.

Buttplate, double curve trigger guard, nose cap and barrel bands are all brass. Bands are anchored by screws. There are no band springs.

Iron ramrod has a straight shank and a tulip shaped head with threads present on the opposite end. [ad] [ph:L]
