Carte de visite of Mumper, quite possibly a self-portrait, signed on mount “yours respectfully, Levi Mumper”. Mumper has added on the reverse “16 for $1.00 Sitting or Standing”. Faint ink backstamp “Go to Mumper & Co.”.
A very rare photograph by one of the principal photographers of the Gettysburg battlefield, monuments, etc. He learned his trade from the Tyson Brothers, and was engaged in commercial photography in Gettysburg from about 1865 to about 1906.
