This small assortment of relics is housed in a display along with a copy of a handwritten note written by Robert Mehring, indicating that the items were found on September 21, 1963 on his family’s farm.
The Mehring farm is located on the Fairfield Road (Route 116) just west of Reynolds Avenue. During the beginning of the Battle of Gettysburg it was the scene of a pitched two hour battle US Devin’s Second Brigade Cavalry Corps and CS Davis’ Mississippi Infantry Regiment.
Robert Mehring passed his collection of relics to a local resident, Elwood Cullison, who in turn passed them to the Rosensteel Family, where it resided in their collection until recently being released.

1. US Eagle Belt Plate with lead back intact
2. .44 Caliber Pistol Bullet
3. Two .69 Cal. Minie Balls, one fired
4. Three .54 Cal. Sharps Carbine Bullets, one fired
5. Williams Cleaner Bullet
6. Three .58 Cal. Minie Balls
