$440.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 224-508

This is a fragment of an exploded artillery shell; being the bottom portion of the nose of a 3” Hotchkiss iron artillery shell. Three flame grooves are visible.  Iron is in good “relic” condition with light surface rust.

This was acquired from the 2014 auction of the contents of the Soldiers National Museum in Gettysburg. This museum opened in the 1950s and operated for many years as the Charley Weaver Museum of the Civil War. “Charley Weaver,” an elderly rural character that actor Cliff Arquette created, appeared on many television shows through the mid-1970s.   [jet] [ph:L]
