Typical cannon ball for Civil War smoothbore artillery pieces in “dug” condition.
This has a complete Bormann time fuse in place. Fuse retains only faint evidence of the timing marks and was drilled exposing the vent hole in the under plug. This was occasionally done by the Confederates to repurpose unexploded northern ordnance. Iron surface is solid with just light pitting.
Recovered from unknown location at Gettysburg. Drilled on bottom to unload and make safe. [jet] [ph:L]
