U.S. 10-POUNDER PARROTT SHELL – CULP’S HILL, GETTYSBURG – KEN BREAM COLLECTION

$975.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1163-184

This is an excavated Union 2.9”, 10-pounder Parrott artillery shell in excellent “dug” condition. Iron surface remains clean with only light surface pitting typical of any relic.  Original collector (Ken Bream) screwed a Confederate brass fuse adaptor into the nose. Although not the correct fuse for the piece it has a nice green patina. Uncoated with “CULPS HILL” in white paint on side. Unloaded and safe.

Items are from the Ken Bream collection that was sold at auction in October 2021. Mr. Bream was a 1970 graduate of Gettysburg High School and life-long relic hunter and collector. His parents managed the Stuckey’s Restaurant that was once located on the north-west corner of the Emmitsburg Road and Wheatfield Road intersection (opposite the Peach Orchard). In the late 1960s through the early 1970s Ken worked on the Eisenhower Farm as a groundskeeper, maintenance man, and general helper for the Eisenhower’s. For many years, he was the Gettysburg Dog Enforcement Officer.  Auction Lot 341.  [jet]   [ph:L]
