RELIC U.S. M1826 EAGLE BREAST PLATE FROM WOLF HILL, GETTYSBURG, KEN BREAM COLLECTION

$295.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1163-72

This is an excavated Pattern 1826 US eagle breast plate. The brass face features a well-worn eagle clutching arrows and an olive branch; this soldier really kept his brass polished!  The plate exhibits a brown patina with a few patches of verdigris. The reverse has 95% of the lead fill remaining, with some loss at edges. Both iron loops have rusted away. Recovered on Wolf Hill at Gettysburg by Ken Bream.

This is from the Ken Bream collection that was sold at auction in October 2021. Mr. Bream was a 1970 graduate of Gettysburg High School and life-long relic hunter and collector. His parents managed the Stuckey’s Restaurant that was once located on the north-west corner of the intersection of Emmitsburg and Wheatfield Roads. In the late 1960s through the early 1970s Ken worked on the Eisenhower Farm as a groundskeeper, maintenance man, and general helper for the Eisenhower’s. For many years, he was the Gettysburg Dog Enforcement Officer.  This was lot #155.   [jet] [ph:L]
