RELIC M1816 BUTT PLATE RECOVERED AT GETTYSBURG – STANLEY WOLF COLLECTION

$67.50 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 2022-1129

Offered here is a rusty relic recovered by Mr. Stanley Wolf. This iron piece came from a Model 1816 musket. The butt plate is rusty and untreated. The specific recovery location around Gettysburg is unknown, but could well have come from his own yard.

Stanley Wolf was born and raised in Gettysburg. He was a collector who lived just west of Gettysburg near Middle Creek and the Black Horse Tavern. Confederate General Longstreet’s famous “counter march” of July 2 went past his property. Mr. Wolf died in 2015 and some of the relics he found were later bought locally at Redding’s Auction.  [jet] [PH:L]
