This booklet was prepared by the Pennsylvania State Commission for the 1938 reunion of veterans in Gettysburg. The forward reads, “That this nation shall forever endure under the guidance of a lasting peace….that the fellowship and brotherhood of man shall be imperishably instilled in all generations….that the spirit of Christian tolerance shall never wane….this booklet is hereto dedicated.”

Following this are photographs and letters from President Franklin D. Roosevelt and Pennsylvania Governor John S. Rice. Booklet has pictures of state and federal commissioners involved in the reunion, and of the Pennsylvania Monument, General Lee and the Virginia Monument, General Meade’s statue, Soldier’s National Monument, North Carolina Memorial, Spangler’s Spring, Alabama Monument, plus various scenes of the battlefield and regimental markers. There’s even a rendering of what the Eternal Peace Light Memorial will look like.

Text contains 44 pages. Program measures 9 ¼” x 12”. This booklet is clean and crisp with only slight discoloration on the front cover. (cla) [ph:L]
