Photo shows approx. 17 members of the First National Drum Corps of Gettysburg standing among the rocks of Devil’s Den. Their drums and cymbals are stacked at the base of the rocks with the adult members of the Corps while the rest of the unit, which appear to be young boys, are scattered throughout the rocks.

The uniforms of the group appear to be of Spanish-American War vintage with khaki campaign hats, tunics, trousers, and leggings. The tunics have high dark collars and dark upper patch pockets.

Research shows that this photo dates from July of 1903.

Second row, left to right: Robert Miller, Roy Long, Al Plank, Milt Remmel, John Zinn, Walter Furhman, Guy Mundorff. Third row, left to right: Raymond Dilfield, Clarence Bumbaugh, Earl T. Eicholtz, Donald Rupp, Earl S. Eicholtz, Guy Grenoble, Roy Zinn.

The image itself meas. approx. 7.50 x 9.00 inches and is mounted on a dark piece of stock that bears a W. H. TIPTON imprint in the lower right corner.

Framed the item meas. approx. 11.50 x 13.50. Wood frame appears to be the original and is in nice condition. Item comes ready to hang on the wall.

With it is a 5 x 7 modern copy of the same group in the same spot but arranged differently. [ad]  [PH:L]
