Here is a nice, “dug” bullet mold for revolvers. Iron, two cavity type; one round ball, one conical ball. Typical Civil War-era mold with integral sprue cutter on top and attached at the hinge pin.
Rusty with surface pitting. Frozen in the closed position. Cleaned and coated with lacquer.
Recovered by Dean Thomas at the 3rd Corps field hospital at Gettysburg. The 2nd Corps and the 3rd Corps had their large field hospitals on the grounds of the Jacob Schwartz farm. [jet] [ph:L]
