US 12-POUNDER SPHERICAL BORMANN CASE SHOT SHELL FROM GETTYSBURG

$395.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 2023-2330

This is a typical iron cannon ball of the era. Hollow iron ball filled with case shot and has a Bormann time fuse. These shells were for the 12-pounder "Napoleon" cannons.

Bormann fuse is “punched” at the one second mark. Remainder of fuse shows some small dings but most of the numbers and lines are still visible. Iron body no rust and just light surface pitting.

This relic of the Battle of Gettysburg was originally sold many years ago by Chet Small and was believed to have come from the 1st Days battlefield on the west side of Gettysburg.

Drilled (twice) and unloaded. Very nice condition overall.    [jet] [ph:L]
