Image is mounted on a plain unmarked yellow card and is looking across Rock Creek at the farmhouse and fields belonging to Zephaniah Taney.
The camera is looking east, across Rock Creek near the base of Culp’s Hill. At the time of the battle the house was behind Confederate lines and was used as a temporary field hospital.
Contrast and clarity are very good. Paper is also in nice condition.
Originally published by the Tyson Brothers in 1865 this view has on the reverse a list of titles for other images published by the Oriental Photograph Company which was located in Spangler’s building on Baltimore St. in Gettysburg. [ad] [PH:L]
