Offered here is a Gettysburg veteran’s souvenir from a return visit to the battlefield.
Here is a nearly complete lower “cup” portion from a 3” Hotchkiss artillery shell. Pasted to the rusty iron relic is an old label. This label, with red border, has “Battle of Gettysburg” written in old pen & ink on it.
Tag shows some rust stains bleeding through, otherwise still readable. Hotchkiss patent information that was cast into the base is still partially readable. [jet][ph:L]
