This is an excavated block “I” button; the “I” designating Infantry. This is constructed of a stamped brass face with a tin back. The shank is broken off. Nice dark brown patina on the brass; tin back is rusty but has no holes. The is a narrow dent running down the center of the “I”.

Recovered at the Daniel Lady Farm on Hanover Road by a local gentleman who used to relic hunt the various field hospital locations around Gettysburg.  [jet]  [ph:L]
