Early photography of Gettysburg National Military Park is scarce and provides an important record of its evolution. This lovely image shows the bulk of the Union position along Cemetery Ridge to the Round Tops, complete with iconic monuments and defunct Webb Avenue near “The Angle”.
No photographer is credited but the automobile at The Angle and the presence of several monuments suggests the photo was taken within the first decades of the 20th Century.
The edges and corners are sharp and minimal handling marks are noted. The reverse is blank and has trace remnants of the outer layer of the album mounting page. Overall measurements are 9.25” x 3.6”.
This photograph would make an excellent addition to any Gettysburg-centric Civil War collection. [cm][ph:L]
