This is a small piece of a tree with a bullet fired into it.  This small piece of wood has a Confederate Gardner type minie ball embedded in it; just the lower end is visible. This is an old knot of wood, from a tree that stood on Culp’s Hill during the battle, now just a remnant showing dark age patina.

Wood measures 2.5” long x 1.5” wide.  Wood remains very stable. Recovered from Culp’s Hill, Gettysburg.

This was recovered by Ken Bream and was part of his collection that was sold at auction in October 2021. Mr. Bream was a 1970 graduate of Gettysburg High School and life-long relic hunter and collector. His parents managed the Stuckey’s Restaurant that was once located on the north-west corner of the above-named intersection (opposite the Peach Orchard). In the late 1960s through the early 1970s Ken worked on the Eisenhower Farm as a groundskeeper, maintenance man, and general helper for the Eisenhower’s. For many years, he was the Gettysburg Dog Enforcement Officer.  [jet][ph:L]
