This is an excavated copper calendar token recovered from Little Round Top. This piece is pictured on page 132 of O’Donnell’s “Gettysburg Battlefield Relics & Souvenirs” book.
This 1.34" round, metal token bears a tabular annual calendar. One side covers July through December 1853. The opposite side picks up with January through June of 1854. The January side says "Calendar for 1854 Issued Semi-annually" at the top, and "J. B. Hyde Fulton N. Y. Publisher". The July side says "Ent: Accor: to Act of Cong'ss in the year 1851 by I. B. Person" at the top, and “In the Cl'ks Office of the Dist: Court of the Southern Dist: of New York" on the bottom.
This token remains in good “dug” condition with nice brown patina. Most of the fine details remain visible. There is some minor pitting and one small hole.
Recovered by local relic hunter Ed Miller and sold at a local auction of his relics at Redding’s Auction. This was lot number 131 and is so marked on original bag. [jet][ph:L]
