Taken by local photographer William H. Tipton, noted for his extensive early photographs of the Gettysburg battlefield and veterans. This view if of the 50th anniversary of the battle held at Gettysburg from July 1st – 7th, 1917. Taken from the viewing tower located in Ziegler’s Grove looking west. Camps at Gettysburg College visible at far right. Virginia State Monument in the center foreground. Round Tops visible on left. Taken a few days before the arrival of the veterans.
