Featured in this attractive, matted Riker box display is an original piece of wood flooring taken from the second floor of the Daniel Scheaffer farm located on the Baltimore Pike.  Split into 2 pieces that fit together perfectly, measures 1 ½” x 1 ½” x ¼” in total. It is from a larger piece exhibited in the museum that this display was originally purchased from and has been tested chemically to confirm the presence of blood.

Gen. Sickles was taken to this farm after being struck in the leg by a cannonball during the fighting on July 2, 1863.

Included in the display is a dropped bullet recovered from the 3rd Corps Field Hospital; Sickles was in command of the corps at Gettysburg. Also included is a copy of a modern photograph of the amputated portion of his leg, which is on display at the National Museum of Health and Medicine.

Affixed to the bottom of the box is a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity.  [ld][ph:L]
