Here we have a very patriotic red, white, and blue ribbon with gold embossed lettering and a Union eagle and shield. It reads: “The American Union / One and Inseparable / Gettysburg, / Pennsylvania Days / Sep’t 11-12, 1889. The maker’s mark is along the bottom edge: “Union Soldiers Co., Phila.” The ribbon measures 6 ¾ by 2 ½ inches.
This ribbon is in very good condition, although the top of the ribbon is beginning to come undone. There are two minor pinholes at the top of the ribbon where a fastener had once been attached. No top pin bar or fastener is present. The colors of the silk are bright and clean. [cla][ph:L]
