Excavated Bormann time fuse. This is a fired zinc fuse that was set off by punching a hole in the top exposing an internal powder train at a specific point; that point designated by quarter second marks visible on the top. This specimen is split open along the circumference of that channel leaving none of the numbers (denoting seconds of time) visible. Center disc pushed upward from explosion. A raised “US” is seen near the center. Condition is very good for an excavated zinc relic.
Recently acquired from the Stone House Museum in Windsor, NY and comes with an old typed tag stating it was recovered at Gettysburg. [jet][ph:L]
