This ribbon commemorates the 56^th Pennsylvania reunion, held at Gettysburg on September 11^th & 12^th, 1889.  The year saw extensive Pennsylvania unit monumentation across the battlefield and the above two days were set aside to encourage PA veterans to hold monument dedication ceremonies as part of a state initiative.

Ribbon is light blue silk with embossed gilt text and bordering patterns.  The 1^st Corps symbol at center remains red and faintly obscured by a line of fabric wear. Areas of localized fabric wear and separation are shown.  Light fraying is noted at the top and bottom edges. Reverse is blank, with tape reinforcing areas of wear. Dimensions are 2” x 5.9”.

A rare ribbon from one of the first US Infantry units to deploy on the field - sure to be a feature of any Gettysburg or veteran collection.   [cm][ph:L]
