Two Gettysburg 100th Anniversary souvenir banks. The first is a heavy cast iron bank. It is a replica of the 143rd Pennsylvania Volunteers monument on Hancock Ave. On the base front is molded “100th ANNIVERSARY BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG.” Statistics for the Union and CS Armies under Meade and Lee on the reverse, with “COMMEMORATIVE BANK” on the rear base. Molded inside: “Made By Laverne A. Worley Hanover, PA Original 1st Run 1960 Repair Parts Available”. The reclining sharpshooter is molded separately and held in place with a screw from the inside. This example is in like-new condition. The paint is fresh and bright with only a few paint nicks along the edges.

The second bank is a much lighter unpainted aluminum version from the same mold. Never having seen an aluminum example, it may have been a test pour prior to going into production. Each bank measures 7” long x 4 ¾” high x 3 ½” deep.  [dm/ld] [ph:L]
