Mumper & Co. (operated by Civil War veteran Levi Mumper) was a prominent 19th-century photography studio in Gettysburg, PA. Based out of 25 Baltimore Street, they rivaled photographers like William H. Tipton by selling popular photographic views with differing perspectives and artistic direction.
This iconic dual image is mounted to a pale, yellow card with a simple, stamped label at low right. Both the image and the card are in very good condition with only minor surface dirt noted at right front. The reverse is blank and clean, with a light Mumper and Company commercial stamp at center right and an old, lightly penciled price at the upper left corner.
An excellent, earlier piece for the collector of fine Civil War or Gettysburg battlefield photography. [cm][ph:L]
