Offered here are five lead projectiles recovered in the 19th century from the Rose Farm at Gettysburg. Presented in a matted display case, are a fired Confederate Gardner bullet and two three-groove “minie” bullets for .58 caliber rifle muskets, and two round balls for .69 caliber smoothbore muskets. Bullets show light gray patina attesting to the fact that they were recovered long ago.
These were acquired from an old, private Philadelphia collection. The Rose Farm covered 230 acres and was the scene of heavy fighting on July 2 and 3, 1863. [jet][ph:L]
