This dual image, likely an original Weaver photograph, shows the Hospital Woods area of Camp Letterman Hospital, the largest and longest-standing hospital for wounded and sick troops deemed too unhealthy to move. The stereoscopic format view was reproduced by Mumper and Company for retail offering.  The orange mounting card is in good condition, with only minimal wear. Printed on the reverse is an inventory of other retail photographic subjects available for purchase.  Dimensions are 3.5” x 7”.

Peter S. Weaver was a 19th-century photographer from Hanover, Pennsylvania, who documented the Gettysburg battlefield and Camp Letterman General Hospital in late 1863 and subsequent years. He is estimated to have taken around 75 images of Gettysburg and Camp Letterman, capturing historical landscapes, staged or dramatic post-battle scenes, and visitors to the area.
