This dual image, likely an original Weaver photograph, shows the Hospital Woods area of Camp Letterman Hospital, the largest and longest-standing hospital for wounded and sick troops deemed too unhealthy to move. This stereoscopic format view was reproduced from the original by William H. Tipton for retail offering.  The orange mounting card is in good condition, with only minimal wear. Printed on the reverse is an inventory of other retail photographic subjects available for purchase.  Dimensions are 3.5” x 7”.

William Henry Tipton (August 5, 1850 – September 20, 1929) was an exceptionally successful 19th-century American photographer. He became famous as Gettysburg's premier battlefield photographer, capturing thousands of iconic images that document how the historic landscape changed after the Civil War.
