This stereoscopic image features the rostrum in the National Cemetery at Gettysburg.  The image is mounted to a Tipton commercial card with light-minimal wear. The reverse features explanatory text regarding the business, as well as a Tipton commercial logo. Dimensions are 3.5” x 7”.

The Gettysburg Rostrum is a historic brick speaker’s stand built in 1879 located inside the Soldiers' National Cemetery in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. While often mistakenly linked to Abraham Lincoln’s 1863 Gettysburg Address, it was constructed 16 years later for memorial ceremonies.

William H. Tipton (1850–1929) was the most famous and prolific post-Civil War photographer in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Known as "The Battlefield Photographer," he took more than 5,000 images of the battlefield and over 100,000 portrait negatives during his career.
