This small religious tract (single page, double-sided) was published by the American Tract Society of Boston for distribution among US Soldiers – independently as something of a calling card, or in partnership with book publishers who were furnishing bibles to servicemen in hospitals and camp.
The front features a full 1864 almanac for the Soldier and Sailor, while the reverse features a New Year’s Day greeting to an intended recipient in Washington - with a passionate religious appeal. Edges and corners are sharp, with mild discoloration on the edges of the text side. Dimensions are 2” x 3.2”.
An interesting personal item for the US Soldier and Sailor at the start of what would be the bloodiest year of the Civil War. [cm][ph:L]
