A handsome display presenting an authentic lock of General Robert E. Lee's hair together with two dropped Minié balls recovered from the "High-Water Mark" of Pickett's Charge. The relics are mounted in a single burgundy suede-finish mat measuring approximately 8½ x 11 inches, with a sepia-toned photographic portrait of Lee in Confederate general's uniform at top, three relic windows at center, and a printed descriptive card at bottom.

THE HAIR RELIC: Several fine strands from a documented lock of Robert E. Lee's hair, mounted beneath a domed crystal in the center window. The hair descends from the collection of Washington and Lee University — where Lee served as president from 1865 until his death in 1870 — and was presented to Dr. Robert Foster Bradley, head of the Romance languages department.

THE MINIÉ BALLS: Flanking the hair are two dropped (unfired) conical small-arms bullets — Union (left) and Confederate (right) — both recovered from the High-Water Mark of Pickett's Charge on the Gettysburg battlefield, ex. Rosensteel Collection, the family name long associated with the earliest Gettysburg relic recovery and the battlefield museums.

THE PORTRAIT: A sepia photographic print of the familiar seated portrait of Lee in uniform, matted within a gilt-lined window above the relics.

AUTHENTICITY: The hair relic and both Gettysburg bullets are guaranteed authentic and original.

This is a new display, ready for framing.    [ss][ph:L]
