The full title of this volume is “HISTORY OF THE SEVENTY-EIGHTH PENNSYLVANIA VOLUNTEER INFANTRY.”

The volume was edited by J. T. Gibson under the direction of the Historical Committee of the Regimental Association. The book was printed by The Pittsburgh Printing Company in 1905.

Volume is hardcover and meas. approx. 6 x 9 inches and runs 267 pages with roster and 20 illustrations.

Covers are brown cloth with the title and author’s name on the spine in gold. Both front and back covers are clean and show light wear. Binding is excellent, interior is clean.

The 78th Pennsylvania was organized in October of 1861 and served with the Army of the Ohio, the Army of the Cumberland with the 14th and 20th Corps. The regiments heaviest loss came at Stones River but they also saw service at Chickamauga and during the Atlanta Campaign losing 5 officers and 262 enlisted men killed, died of wounds and disease.
