This is a wood framed knapsack with a painted black canvas covering. The wood frame meas. approx. 15.00 inches wide x 14.25 inches tall. The outer flap of the pack is held securely in place by two 1.00 inch wide leather straps. These straps are made of brown leather and are attached to the top of the pack by large iron rivets. On the bottom edge of the pack is a single short strap with roller buckle to secure one of the closure straps. The second buckle is missing. The center of the outer flap has a number “10” done in white paint. Each number is approx. 3.25 inches high. The lower right side of the pack is marked “B 87.”
Along the top edge of the pack are two of the three original blanket straps. One is complete and one is shortened. The pack’s shoulder straps are gone but one of the strap hooks remains at bottom.
The interior of the pack is accessible by lifting the back flap. Inside are two painted canvas flaps with ties. Underside of the flap is stenciled “B CO. 95.”
The overall condition of this item is good. Inside the pack is a plastic bag with some loose straps. [ad] [ph:L]
