This is the interior bag that is meant for use inside the linen haversack issued by the State of Massachusetts early in the war.
The bag meas. approx. 9.75 inches wide x 9.00 inches high. It has two buttonholes, one at front and one in back. It is stamped with a barely readable "STATE OF MASS. / INSPECTED", but the word “ACCEPTABLE” is visible.
