This silver plaque was awarded to the USMC Drum and Bugle Corps, at Dallas, “In recognition of their outstanding contribution to the national heritage in the field of military music and pageantry” by the Texas State Fair. The condition is excellent, with sharp lettering and minor scratches. The value of the silver alone is in the $300 range. It would be hard to put a sentimental or emotional value on it. The award was made on October 6, 1969, while fighting was still raging in Vietnam, a war in which the Marines were heavily engaged. [sr] [ph:m/L]
